Despite being without a PiriPiri Division Three league fixture for the last couple of weeks, Clacton Ramblers Cricket Club have suddenly found themselves at the top of the table, and in a strong position to achieve promotion at the first attempt. At the end of last season, and following a league re-structuring, they found themselves demoted into Division Three, and captain Owen Nash is keen to regain what he feels is their rightful place.
Three weeks ago, and following a win against Great Horkesley, the Ramblers were in third spot behind Ipswich and Great Bentley. However, previously unbeaten Ipswich have now lost their last two fixtures, whilst Great Bentley slipped up a fortnight ago against Boxted, and the upshot is that the Eastcliff based side are now top of the pile.
They are without a game again this weekend [2nd September 2012], but they then close off their season on the following four Sundays. Great Braxted & Tiptree are the visitors on 9th September, and this is followed by two away games – North Springfield Wanderers on 16th September and Gosfield on 23rd September – before the final home game on 30th September against Ipswich.
With the days now becoming shorter, and the nights beginning to draw in, all future games will be starting at 12.30 pm.
